Design note

The application site is gardens to the rear of two properties facing Bath Road in Leckhampton, Cheltenham, and is within the Central Conservation Area. A previous planning application was granted for two apartments in 2003 which established the principle of development on the site, however the client wanted an improved layout to the dwellings and a contemporary finish.

Each dwelling has a private entrance, small courtyard with a kitchen / dining area and living room on the ground floor, with two bedrooms on the first floor. The appearance is intended as a contemporary reinterpretation of a mews house, with intentionally abstract openings using varying reveal depths to the openings. Both entrance halls are defined by primary coloured brick tiles which are intended as a reference to the strong modernist lines of the building.

Planning permission was granted in 2015 and the project is on site.
